Eve

In "Eve", biblical women and their archetypical sisters from classical mythology make Dickensian visitations to a misguided humanities professor. I will be creating "Eve" from an idea: the female archetypal characters of Western culture might prefer to express their own stories in dance rather than the words heretofore scripted for them by male scholars, poets and scribes. I have always been interested in the way that Western culture associates women with the body and men with the mind. The fact that this distinction is hierarchical, placing mind over body and men over women is particularly important to me as a woman in dance, a bodily form of art. Dance with humour and compassion that truly rocks.

Cori Caulfield's full length dance work EVE, comissioned by the Dancing on the Edge Festival, will premiere in Vancouver in July 2002 at the Firehall Theatre (Cordova and Gore in Vancouver). For tickets call the box office at (604) 689-0926.
